Since ancient times, humans have expressed their relationship with the world through various stories such as myths and folktales. A typical example is the group of heavenly nymph tales, which has remained particularly prevalent throughout Asia in the form of the Hagoromo (Nymph’s Magic Robe) tale. This website was created as a “digital space to generate new connections centering on Hagoromo tales,” as part of the research project concerning the Indonesian medieval tale Sri Tanjung. Pertinent questions include “What is Hagoromo?” and “Why Hagoromo-Nymph tales?” To address such questions, it is prudent to explore the qualities that can be found in various Hagoromo/Heavenly Nymph tales.
